Select Services to Include in a Study

You can include up to five services in the study. You first select a service category, then select services in that category. Additional features enable you to evaluate category comparison data and change SMI weighting settings.

Follow these steps:

  1. Complete the Describe Study page, then double-click Next.

    The Select Services page opens.

  2. Select a category for your study from the drop-down list. You can select from one of the SMI service categories, such as e-mail, IT Management, and so on.

    The page refreshes to display available services in the selected category.

  3. Select up to five service names for your study. You can also work with the following features in the services display list:
    SMI Weighting

    Select a weight setting to change the way sub-characteristics are weighted. By default, the Natural weight setting is selected, in which all sub-characteristics are given equal weight. You can change the weight setting to create a custom weight that favors one characteristic over another, such as cost over security.

    Display SMI confidence information

    Roll your mouse over the Category SMI score to display SMI score confidence information.
