The EXTERNAL_VALUE tag is the tag used to pass booklet parameters to free form reports. Another possible option is the CONTEXT VALUE tag however the CONTEXT VALUE tag does not permit passing a time range to the report.

The EXTERNAL_VALUE tag can be used for Free-Form reports only.

There are no external (EXTERNAL_VALUE) parameter tags (the values that are set within the booklet prompt window) for Standard reports. When generating a booklet, if a prompt for external values is set, these values override the report parameters.

Parameter values are taken in the following order:

• External values
• Booklet values
• Report Wizard values as they are set when the report is saved.
