Service Delivery CMDB (Resource Management Module)
The Service Delivery CMDB, also known as the Resource Management module, contains information about the underlying components that make up the physical and logical infrastructure used to deliver the services. The main purposes of the Service Delivery CMDB layer are:
- To allocate which resources are related to which service and contract party
- To group resources in logical groups
- To define attributes for resources
- To capture all these changes over time.
Changes in resource definitions, allocations and availability drive the business logic calculations and may cause service level over-performance or violations. CA Business Service Insight monitors and captures these changes in order to take them into consideration when calculating service levels, deviations, contract values and forecasted prices.
The Service Delivery CMDB provides the following capabilities:
- Creates and manages resources, resource groups and types
- Dynamically manages resource attributes to support additional infrastructure information
- Associates resources and groups to contract parties and services
- Views the relationship between business obligations and infrastructure
- Protects changes with security and track changes capabilities including version control
- Builds automatic and bi-directional synchronization with external CMDB solutions
