Translation entries enable mapping of data source values to specific entities defined in CA Business Service Insight. New entries are created automatically whenever the adapters receive data for which a translation has not yet been defined. Typically, entries for all entities that exist when CA Business Service Insight is first installed are created during implementation. However, new translation entries need to be made whenever new entities, such as new resources, new services and new contract parties, are added to the service provider's infrastructure.
When first created, translation entries have the status of Pending, which means they await translation. You then have the option of translating the entry, ignoring it or deleting it. While an entry retains its Pending status, the adapter continues to store all relevant data until the translation entry is translated, enabling it to convert the information into entities recognized by CA Business Service Insight.
Note: The file in which the adapter stores data is limited in size. After this limit is reached, no further data is collected.
If the translation entry refers to an entity that does not yet exist in CA Business Service Insight, you can add the entity to the system and define the translation at the same time.
