Translations

The adapters used by CA Business Service Insight to collect real-time data from data sources must convert this information into a format that is recognized by the system. This is done by translating each piece of relevant data into a corresponding entity in the system. For example, a data source that measures throughput generates a particular value for each customer at regular intervals. In order to incorporate this data into the contracts managed by CA Business Service Insight, the adapter connected to this data source must know how to translate these values so that the system can use them appropriately for the correct contracts.

The Translations option enables you to construct translation tables, which define the type of CA Business Service Insight entity represented by one or more fields contained in the data source. Known as a destination type, this can represent many different entities within the system, including:

The Translations option also enables you to translate pending entries and to add entries manually to each table. These entries represent the translation of individual pieces of data source information into a corresponding CA Business Service Insight value.

The Translation Script can be used to ease the maintenance of translations and prevent errors.
