Viewing Root-Cause Comments

Root-cause comments are the comments that are added to report based on the root cause. For example, a root- cause comment may be made for a certain server that was down for a number of times within a period of time. The root-cause comment may state that this is the 10th time this month that this server crashed.

There are two types of root cause comments, manual and automatic. Manual root-cause comments were added through the GUI. Automatic root-cause comments were added to the business logic code at the time during contract creation or modification.

In wizard-based reports you can right-click on a bar (or entity) and choose view root-cause comments to zoom in on that bar and generate a root-cause comment. You can right-click over an empty space in the chart to generate a root-cause comment report for all of the metrics in the report.

In Compound reports you can right-click on a bar (or entity) to generate a root-cause comment report if there are no penalty reports included in the compound report.

In Group-reports you must zoom in to a specific report to view root-cause comments for the specific report.

Root-cause comments cannot be directly accessed in penalty reports. To view root-cause comments in a penalty report you must change the report to a metric-based report.

You can view root-cause comments for a specific metric by right-clicking on the bar of that metric.

To view root-cause comments for a specific metric
