Commit a Service Level Template

For a Service Level Template to take effect, it must be committed.

Note: A workflow-enforced Service Level Template must abide by a strict workflow process. Committing a workflow-enforced Service Level Template requires approval by an assigned Service Level Template approver.

Follow these steps:

  1. In the Service Level Template Details page modify the relevant details [if required].
  2. Click Commit.

    A confirmation dialog box opens.

  3. Click Yes.

    The Service Level Template is committed.

    Note: A Service Level Template cannot be committed if there are any metric errors in it. For more information, see Checking a metric. If the commit button is not available and there are no errors, you may have workflow enabled.

Committing a contract (workflow enabled)

Committing a Service Level Template that has workflow enabled requires approval.

  1. In the Service Level Template Details page click Request Approval.

    The Send dialog box opens.

  2. [Optional]. In Remarks, type a remark to display in the e-mail message.
  3. Click Send.

    The approval request is sent to the contract approver.

  4. Click OK.

    The Contract Details page opens.

Note: A contract pending approval can be canceled.

Service Level Template Usage

Service Level Templates can be used to:

Use Service Level Templates to Create a New Contract

Service Level Templates can be used to create a new contract.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click Design, Template Libraries.

    The Template Libraries page opens.

  2. Select a portfolio (left or right panes). The portfolio opens and displays its Contract Templates and Service Level Templates.
  3. Select the Effective (committed) Service Level Template you want to use; right click and select Create Contract.

    The Contract Wizard opens.

  4. Select the parameters to be included in the new contract and click Next.

    The Contract Wizard Details page opens.

  5. Modify the contract as required; click Save and Next.

    The Edit Parameters screen opens.

  6. Edit the parameters as required; click Save and Next.

    The Summary screen opens and the contract has been created.

  7. Select the desired operation.
Use Service Level Templates to Update an Existing Contract

Service Level Templates can be used to update an existing contract.

Follow these steps:

  1. In the Service Level Templates page, click Use to and select Update an existing Contract.

    The Select Contract to update page opens.

  2. Select the contract and click OK.

    The Service Level Template Library page opens.

  3. In Show items related to, select the items you want to include in the contract.
  4. Select the Service Level Templates you want to use.

    -or-

    Expand each Service Level Template and select individual services and metrics. When selecting individual metrics, mandatory metrics must be selected. Click Complete Mandatory Metrics button to select all mandatory metrics under each Service Level Template that was used.

    If mandatory metrics exist, but were not selected the following confirmation dialog box opens when clicking Next:

    Select the appropriate choice and click OK.

  5. Click Show objective statement text object to view the metric's objective statement.
  6. Select Keep the original services to apply the selected metrics with their services.

    -or-

    Select Attach all metrics to this service and from the drop-down list, select the service to which the metrics are applied.

    Note: The Keep original services and Attach all metrics options are only available when CA Business Service Insight is configured to allow services to be overridden. Go to Administration, Site Settings, Advanced, Contract.

  7. Click Save & Continue.

    The Contract Details page opens.

  8. If metrics with conflicting names were added to the contract, the Conflicting Metrics and Parameters dialog box opens.

    Note: Collisions between the added metrics and existing metrics are resolved before running the metric wizard.

  9. Modify the contract as desired. For more information, see Creating a Contract from a Service Level Template.
Use Service Level Templates to Create a New Contract Template

Service Level Templates can be used to create a new contract template.

Follow these steps:

  1. Click Design, Template Libraries.

    The Template Libraries page opens.

  2. Select a portfolio (left or right panes).

    The portfolio opens and displays its Contract Templates and Service Level Templates.

  3. Select the Service Level Template you want to use; right click and select Create Contract Template.

    The Service Level Template Contract Wizard opens.

  4. Select the Service Level Template and required parameters; click Next.

    The Contract Template Wizard screen opens.

  5. Modify the contract template as required.
  6. Click Save and Next.

    The Edit Parameters screen opens.

  7. Edit the parameters as required. Click Save and Next.

    The Contract Template Wizard Summary page opens and the contract template has been created.

  8. Select the desired operation.
Use Service Level Templates to Update an Existing Contract Template

You can use a Service Level Template to update a contract template.

Follow these steps:

  1. In the Service Level Templates page, click Use to and select Update an existing Contract Template.

    The Select Contract to update page opens.

  2. Select the contract template and click OK.

    The Service Level Template Library page opens.

  3. Select the Service Level Templates you want to use.

    -or-
