View and manage the applications that are monitored by the management console.
Use the Application List to view and manage the applications that are monitored by the management console. The Application List includes system-defined applications that are automatically created from observed application port traffic, and user-defined applications.
Displays the TCP port number or name of the application. If a system-defined application runs on a well-known port, the management console names the application using the well-known name rather than the port number. Clicking to expand a:
Lists matching server subnets or servers where a monitoring device has observed the application port traffic.
Lists its assigned server subnets and servers.
Displays the TCP port on which the application sends and receives packets.
Displays the application type, such as Standard, for a Standard TCP application.
Lists server count information. Depending on the configuration type of the application, the count information varies. For a:
Lists the number of servers where a monitoring device has observed the application traffic.
Lists the number of assigned servers.
Lists server subnet count information. Depending on the configuration type of the application, the count information varies. For a:
Lists the number of server subnets where a monitoring device has observed application traffic.
Lists the number of assigned server subnets.
For a WAAS-optimized application, lists the number of network segments for which the management console has computed application response time metrics. Normally, the management console computes response time metrics for the [Client], [WAN], and [Server] segments.
Use this information to find WAAS-optimized applications that do not report optimization data for all 3 segments to the management console. Note that for a non-optimized application, the number of network segments is 0.
Lists the total amount of application traffic, in bytes, from the last 7 days. Use this information to find your busiest applications. For a:
User-defined application, the Bytes and Last Seen values reflect data for each server subnet and server that is assigned to the application.
System-defined application, the Bytes and Last Seen values reflect the observed application traffic across all of the server subnets and servers that are defined in the management console.
When you create a user-defined application, this column continues to show the byte count for the data that was collected by the corresponding system-defined application for 7 days. After 7 days, if you have assigned all servers that host the application to the user-defined application, this column should have a value of 0 bytes.
Displays a timestamp of the most recent 5-minute interval during which the management console reported application traffic on any server.
If the Last Seen status is Inactive, the management console did not collect data for the application in the past 7 days.
To collect data, the application must meet the database threshold for Network Round Trip Time observations.
Indicates whether the management console automatically created the application:
Indicates that the application was automatically created by the management console from observed application port traffic.
Indicates that the application was created by a management console administrator.
Use the Port Exclusion List to view and manage application port exclusion rules and exclude the application traffic that you do not want the management console to monitor.
Displays the TCP port that is filtered at the monitoring device.
Indicates whether the port exclusion rule applies to all servers in the currently selected domain. If you have not set up domains to separate duplicate traffic, a domain-wide rule applies to all servers.
Use the Show Me menu to choose the domain you want. If you have not set up domains, the list of domains is not displayed.
Lists the number of servers that the rule excludes.
Lists the number of server subnets that the rule excludes.
