Frequently Asked Questions
- How do I filter the list of incidents? Click Settings to filter the list of incidents by timeframe, then choose the incident status and minimum severity.
- How do I view the details of an incident? To view the monitoring device incident details, click the timestamp in the Incident on column.
- How does the management console create a monitoring device incident for data inactivity? By default, the management console creates a Major monitoring device incident when the management console does not receive data from a monitoring device after 15 minutes. For example, if a Cisco WAE is assigned to a CA Multi-Port Monitor, and the Cisco WAE stops generating response time data, after 15 minutes the management console creates a Major monitoring device incident for the Cisco WAE. Assuming the CA Multi-Port Monitor continues to process response time data on at least one of its logical ports, the management console does not create a monitoring device incident for the CA Multi-Port Monitor.
Monitor Device Incidents
The Severity column describes type of incident condition:
- Major
-
Incident Open. A monitoring device incident threshold for inactivity, dropped packets, or fragmented packets was exceeded.
- Was Major
-
Incident Closed. If the condition that triggered a monitoring device incident no longer exists, the management console automatically closes the incident. A status of Was Major indicates the Major incident condition no longer exists.
- Unavailable
-
Incident Open. Indicates the management console was unable to contact a CA Standard Monitor or CA Multi-Port Monitor.
- Was Unavailable
-
Incident Closed. Indicates the management console was previously unable to contact a CA Standard Monitor or CA Multi-Port Monitor, but contact has been re-established.
Filter the list of incidents you want by choosing an option:
- Monitoring Device
-
Choose a monitoring device from the list or use the default, All, to view all incidents for each CA Standard Monitor.
- Incident State
-
Choose the incident states you want: Open, Closed, or Open and Closed.
- Minimum Severity
-
Choose Major or Unavailable to filter the list of incidents. Unlike other thresholds, monitoring device incident thresholds have a severity of either Major or Unavailable.
