The install system writes a plain-text log of all operations performed and stores it in /var/local/ald/log.txt.
The text file is formatted like the Linux system log (date time who: message). It contains at least the following:
In addition to the install log, when a new grid is created, or a change is made to the grid, the configuration file of the grid controller is saved in a directory named after the controller's DNS name (or IP address, if a DNS name is not set). These archive directories are kept in a common root:
/var/local/ald/grids/
Note that aldo does not rely on the presence of the log or the config archives for its operation. They are mostly for later examination by an administrator, in case it is necessary to restore a previous configuration, or troubleshoot a failed installation.
ALDO itself will use the config archive for one purpose only: if a config archive is available for a grid, it will be used to locate the grid controller if no controller address is provided, thus specifying a grid simply by its name is possible for most commands, if the archive file is kept intact.
