When the upgrade command is used, a progress log is kept in /var/local/ald/grids/grid-name/upgrade.log.
This file records the upgrade progress and is automatically used to resume an upgrade when the upgrade2 command is used. If an upgrade fails, re-running 'upgrade' allows the administrator to examine the grid state and determine what action(s) may be needed to recover the grid and re-try the upgrade (or roll back any changes, if upgrade is not to be re-tried).
To avoid data loss in case of hardware failures during upgrade
Under no circumstances should this log file be modified or deleted except as done automatically by aldo. The only exception to this when the change has been recommended by a qualified support representative (which should only be needed to work around a software bug in aldo). Please read the instructions in Recovery in Case of a Failed Grid Upgrade in case of actual or suspected upgrade failure.
The upgrade log is deleted automatically when an upgrade completes successfully (the record of the successful upgrade remains in the install log).
