The BACKWARD option is used when a tape has been prematurely removed from a vault and is not to be returned.
The following example shows the action of BACKWARD when the SAFE vault had its oldest cycle of XYZ removed. The version of the data set in the DRA1 vault was sent back to SAFE. Once the BACKWARD cycle has performed the revaulting, BACKWARD should be removed from the DSN statement.
