Vault Pattern Example 5 - REDEFINED Vault Patterns

The REDEFINED keyword instructs VMS to recalculate the requirements for the specified DSN. Any change to a pattern requires the use of REDEFINED for the next VMS execution. Once the new pattern is established, REDEFINED should be removed. If the redefinition involves the use of a new vault name, the VAULTS= statement should reflect both the old and new locations, or errors will occur.

Note: Use of the REDEFINED keyword allows volumes previously released from VMS control using the '(blank)VMS' outcode to be reconsidered for vaulting.

The following example shows the REDEFINED action on the number of cycles to be stored in a vault, and a vault name change. Once the new environment has been established, the REDEFINED keyword is removed from the Data Set Name control statement.
