Formatting the Audit data set must be done before CA 1 is implemented and anytime the Audit data set is destroyed or needs to be expanded. Formatting establishes the maximum number of Audit records and the Audit data set block size.
There are nine steps to perform when formatting the Audit data set. If it is the initial format, only Steps 5 through 8 are required.
Stop tape processing on all CPUs.
Back up the TMC using TMSCOPY unless the Audit data set has been destroyed.
Execute TMSINIT to deactivate CA 1 on all CPUs. Respond with the CA 1 system password to the initialization WTOR. Respond to the CTS address space with a command to release the audit data set.
Scratch and uncatalog the old Audit data set.
Allocate and catalog the new Audit data set (DSORG=PSU).
If a new Audit data set name was used, change the parameter in the TMOOPTxx member of hlq.CTAPOPTN to reflect the new name.
Execute TMSFORMT with the FORMAT AUDIT control statement (see the FORMAT AUDIT Control Statement).
Execute TMSINIT on all CPUs to reinitialize CA 1. Respond, if necessary, with U to the initialization WTOR.
Back up the TMC using TMSCOPY. Respond to the CTS address space with a command to obtain the audit data set.
Steps 1, 4 and 5 are standard system functions. Steps 2, 3, 8 and 9 are CA 1 functions which are explained in the discussions of TMSCOPY and TMSINIT in this guide. Step 6 is explained in the description for the FORMAT AUDIT control statement. For more information on CTS address space commands, see the Administration Guide.
