ACTIVITY Data Set

Records in the ACTIVITY data set contain keywords and values, such as VOLSER=345678,DSN=JKL,CJOB=ELMER. Valid keywords are listed on Keywords and Their Use.

The keyword value must be in character format, and may only contain the characters A-Z, 0-9, $, # or @. Hexadecimal, packed and binary data are not allowed. If the value contains any special characters or embedded blanks, the value must be enclosed in delimiters. The delimiters must be asterisks (*) and cannot be embedded within the value.

Example:

ACCT=*CA-1 PROJECT*

The delimiters between keyword=value phrases may be commas, blanks, or multiple combinations of both. For example:

keyword=value,keyword=value keyword=value

The value HEXZEROS indicates binary zeros. When used, it clears the field.

Duplicate records are not allowed. A record is considered a duplicate if the following fields are equivalent to corresponding fields in another record:

• DSN (data set name) and VOLSER (volume serial number) for TMSUPDTE output format.
• DSN and CJOB (creating job name) for TMSEXPDT output format.
• DSN and VOLSER for TMRECORD output format.

The ACTIVITY data set must be used in conjunction with the DEFAULTS data set.

If more than one physical record makes up one logical record, this must be indicated to TMSCONVR by use of the MASTER= parameter.
