TMSCONVR Utility—Convert Sequential Data Sets

Use the TMSCONVR batch utility program to reformat any machine-readable data set into one of three possible formats.

Depending on the format you select, the output record formats are TMSUPDTE control statements, TMSEXPDT Retention Data Set (RDS) control statements, or TMRECORD (TMC record) format.

TMSCONVR performs several functions:

• SMF data collected from a non-CA 1 controlled computer can be used as input to TMSCONVR to generate TMSUPDTE control statements. These control statements can then be input to TMSUPDTE to update the TMC.
• TMSCONVR can reformat data from more than one source to use as input to TMSFORMT when initially creating the TMC.
• TMSCONVR can reformat input data for the Generalized Report Writer (TMSGRW).
• TMSCONVR can create the RDS used by TMSEXPDT.

A user exit, TMSXITCO, may be called from TMSCONVR to modify data in the output records.

CA 1 may be active, batch active or inactive to run TMSCONVR.
