Report Description
TMSCLEAN generates TMS Report 85 to list general processing messages and any errors encountered. The parameters provided for TMSCLEAN are listed, and the CA 1 system options that affect the option are chosen. The data set name and volume serial number of the EARLOUT data set is also listed. Totals for each option are on TMS Report 85, and include the number of records read and updated, user exit statistics and other processing totals.
The supplied CA Earl report members can produce the following reports from the flat file defined by the EARLOUT DD:

A brief description of each report follows:
- Each tape marked for scratch is listed in scratch tape pool order and then by label type, density, recording technique and volume serial number order (as provided in the sample TMECLN01 member). The report lists volume sequence, data set name, tape type (CRTG/REEL), cleaning history number, date and usage, first volume, CA 1 keyword, FLAG1 (F1), FLAG2 (F2), FLAG3 (F3), FLAG4 (F4) and new out-of-area code.
If TMSCLEAN is unable to determine the catalog status of a data set or experiences an error uncataloging a data set, the message LE=xx or UE=xx is printed for that data set on the output report, under the field heading UNCAT IND. The value of xx reflects the return code from the LOCATE or CAMLIST macro, respectively. To determine the cause of the LOCATE or CAMLIST error, see the IBM MVS Catalog Administration Guide. The TMC record is updated regardless of the return codes.
- The Scratch and Clean Relist report produced by the supplied TMECLN04 member lists all active tapes in scratch status in volume serial number order, and reports the date each tape had been scratched, the number of days the tape has been in scratch status, the last job used, the last date used, and whether the tape was marked for special handling when it was scratched.
Note: If automatic cleaning is to take place, see TMSCLNOA in the following pages.
- The Extend Expiration Dates report produced by the supplied TMECLN03 member identifies data sets whose expiration dates have been extended through the EXTEND parameter. It lists the data sets in volume serial number order and gives the new expiration date, old expiration date, and the date last used.
- Scratch and Clean Reset report is produced by the TMECLN02 member. Any volume whose scratch bit has been reset is listed in volume serial number order with the expiration date, creation date and time, FLAG1 (F1), FLAG2 (F2), FLAG3 (F3) and FLAG4 (F4).
- The Reset Expired by Catalog Control report is produced by the TMECLN05 member. Any data sets that have previously been expired by Catalog Control are listed. TMC Volume and DSNB records marked as expired by Catalog Control are listed in data set order.
