Each TMSCLEAN option produces a flat file of records processed in the CA 1 Retention Record format. The flat file is defined by the EARLOUT DD, and can be used in a subsequent step with a report writer such as CA Earl to produce customized reports. Sample CA Earl report members are provided in the CA 1 Source library, and can be modified to produce listing in any sequence and listing any fields required.
The CA 1 Retention Record format is described in the Programming Guide, and is a TMC Volume or DSNB record followed by an extension that contains fields such as original expiration date, tape volume cleaning information, tape scratch pool names, uncatalog information, and security return codes.
Tapes owned by CA Dynam/T are counted by TMSCLEAN and included in the report totals on TMS Report 85. CA 1 will not scratch tapes owned by CA Dynam/T.
CA 1 must be active or batch active to run TMSCLEAN.
