SMFQ Commands

Commands are sent to SMFQ using the CTS Message command (MSG). Commands can be issued at any time while TMSSMFQ is active.

Use the following format on all commands issued to the SMFQ subtask:

F CTS,MSG SMFQ,[STOP|CANCEL|STATUS]
STOP

Use the STOP command to request SMFQ to process any remaining SMF records and terminate.

CANCEL

Use the CANCEL command to request SMFQ to cancel itself with a User-111 Abend.

SMFQ will not process the remaining SMF records. To process these records, the operator must restart SMFQ.

STATUS

Use the STATUS command to request SMFQ to provide the current status of CA 1® Tape Management. This generates the following:

Note: Preprocessing statistics refer to the time required to add an SMF record to the queue and to prepare that record for processing once it is removed from the queue. Postprocessing statistics refer to the time required to add an SMF record to the queue and to then process the record. Use the difference between these two times to determine the time required to process an SMF record.
