CA1_VRFY_OPTION_TCHG

Description

This check identifies possible problems associated with changing the dynamic tape recording technique based on the CA 1 System Option TCHG. The default interval for this check is run once at startup and the exception interval is every 24 hours.

Best Practice

CA recommends that you allow the recording technique to be changed for new scratch tapes by setting the CA 1 System Option TCHG to YES. This will allow CA 1 to process requests that involve a recording technique change without delays or problems. With TCHG set to YES, for example, a 3590 volume in scratch status, which was previously created with 256 tracks, can be mounted on a 3590-H device for reuse with 384 tracks.
