The normal daily maintenance job stream should include the following additional steps for weekly maintenance:
Concatenate the Audit data set backups that are created by TMSCOPY in chronological sequence as input to IEBGENER or a similar utility. Copy them to a single file for use in continued reporting. Do not edit the Audit data set backups being concatenated, copy the Audit control record with the Audit records.
Research problems and trends in your tape processing environment by running CA Earl to process the cumulative Audit data.
Run the TMSPTRS utility to analyze and report on any errors in CA 1 multi-volume chains or in chains with more data sets.
