You can use the View Editor to create view definitions as an alternative to using the View Management Console.
This dialog contains the following sections:
Specifies the properties used to create or modify a view.
This section contains the following fields:
Specifies the name for the view. View names can contain up to 80 characters; valid characters are a-z, A-Z, 0-9, underscore (_), and hyphen (-). View names with embedded spaces must be enclosed in single quotes. View names cannot include any of the following: #, $, %, *, ., ?, or @. The name is required.
Specifies the columns to display in the Jobs table. Multiple names can be entered, separated by commas.
Specifies the columns to display in the Alerts table. Multiple names can be entered, separated by commas.
(Optional) Specifies a description for the view.
Limits: 0-255 alphanumeric characters
Specifies the valid commands and properties used to create or modify a filter. The Filters section contains a navigation pane and the Create/Edit Filter pane.
The Create/Edit Filter pane contains the following fields:
Specifies the name of the server. The name is required.
(Optional) Specifies the name of the alert policy to associate with this view.
(Optional) Indicates whether the filter is active or not active. If the filter is active, then the jobs and collections that match the filter are displayed in the view. If the filter is not active, then the jobs and collections are not displayed in the view, but the filter definition remains part of the view.
Default: Selected
Indicates whether to enter the filter in the Job Filter field or to use the filter expression option. Selecting Interactive opens the filter expression pane from which you can create a simple or complex filter for the view.
Specifies a logical expression to use with the specified server. All criteria must be represented by a job property, followed by an operator and a value. Multiple defined criteria must be linked with either AND or OR. Balanced parentheses are used to enforce interpretation. The following operators are allowed: <, =, >, <=, >=, !=, LIKE, and NOT_LIKE.
Note: The Job Filter field is automatically filled when a filter is defined using the interactive method. However, you must enter the parentheses manually, if applicable.
Specifies the logical connector to use to join the filter conditions. This field is active only when Interactive is selected in the Filter Creation Method field.
Specifies the job property to evaluate. This field is active only when Interactive is selected in the Filter Creation Method field.
Specifies a comparative operator to use when evaluating the dependency. The following operators are available: LIKE and NOT_LIKE. This field is active only when Interactive is selected in the Filter Creation Method field.
Note: If box is selected in the Attribute field, only = or != is available.
Defines the value to use in the comparison. This field is active only when Interactive is selected in the Filter Creation Method field.
This pane contains the following buttons:
Opens the Create Filter section from which you can define a filter for the view.
Opens the interactive filter section from which you can create a filter.
Discards the filter settings.
Saves the filter.
Enters the filter definition in the Job Filter field.
This dialog contains the following buttons:
Saves the view definition and closes the dialog.
Discards your settings and closes the dialog.
