The event server stores all the objects that are used by CA Workload Automation AE. The job, machine, and calendar object definitions comprise a subset of the data contained in the event server as do job events. The application server manages the creation, update, and deletion of the CA Workload Automation AE objects in the event server. The scheduler polls the event server for job events and fetches the corresponding object definitions that are referenced by the event when necessary.
You can configure a CA Workload Automation AE instance to run using two event servers, and this configuration is named dual event server mode. The dual event server mode provides high availability by running two event servers that are synchronized to maintain identical data, including object definitions and events. If you lose one event server due to hardware, software, or network problems, operations can continue on the second event server without losing data or functionality.
The main reason for an event server failure is that CA Workload Automation AE cannot verify which Relational Database Manager System (RDBMS) to connect to or where to find the executables or configuration files. Therefore, it is important to make sure that all the database information is set up correctly on the CA Workload Automation AE server.
Important! The event server information must be entered exactly as it is defined for the database, including case.
