The following provides the description for each parameter:
Specifies the virtual address at which to attach the tape drive. The default for vaddr is 181.
Specifies the required capabilities for the tape drive to attach. For more information about these options, see Specifying Tape Density, Media Type, and Recording Format.
Specifies the group of drives from which to select the drive to attach, or specifies a particular drive to attach.
LOCation name must be one of those defined to the ARM product, and groupname must be one of the NAMEs on the VMTAPE CONFIG file record, DEVICE or MIADEVICE. For more information about LOCation location Option, see Common Command Options.
[Authorization: MOUNTFOR]
Specifies the user ID to which to attach the drive.
Assigns a priority to the allocation request. If no drives are available when you make the allocation request, CA VM:Tape places your request on a device wait queue immediately behind other requests of equal or higher priority. Top priority is 0; the lowest is 99. Ask your system administrator which priorities you are authorized to assign.
Specifies whether CA VM:Tape is to place the allocation request on a device wait queue (QUEUE) or cancel the request (NOQUEUE) if no drives are immediately available.
WRITE is the default. If you specify READ, CA VM:Tape can select a tape drive that can read the tape but not necessarily write at the density specified on the command line of the ALLOCATE command. If you do not plan to use the tape drive for writing, specifying READ potentially increases the number of tape drives that CA VM:Tape can allocate to you.
Specifies whether the ALLOCATE command is to complete as soon as the CA VM:Tape virtual machine receives the allocation request (NOWAIT) or not complete until CA VM:Tape attaches the drive to the user ID's virtual machine (WAIT).
The default for this option is set by your system administrator.
