[Authorization: ALLOCATE]
Use the ALLOCATE command to attach a tape drive to a user ID.
You can use the ALLOCATE command to dedicate tape drives to systems that are running under VM, such as MVS.
Allocated drives return to the CA VM:Tape drive pool when the user ID enters the CP DETACH command.
Important! Do not use the CP ATTACH command to attach tape drives managed by CA VM:Tape. Using CP ATTACH could abnormally terminate CA VM:Tape mount requests.
