What the Operator Can Do

The operator can use the CA VM:Tape HSC command to start, halt, and query the status of the interface.

If the interface is started when CA VM:Tape ends, then the interface will be started automatically when CA VM:Tape is reinitialized. If the interface is halted when CA VM:Tape ends, or if CA VM:Tape has never been initialized, then the interface will not be automatically started when CA VM:Tape is initialized.

CA VM:Tape cannot use the HSC drives while the interface to HSC is halted, unless the operator issues the DISARM command to temporarily designate these drives as manual drives.

Operators can use the CA VM:Tape CHANGE command to redirect a user’s mount request to use an ACS location.

Note: For complete information about the HSC, DISARM, and CHANGE commands, see the Command Reference Guide.
