Agent Server Member Outage

When a member running an Agent server is down, the CA VM:Secure server continues to process commands and update the Object Directory. These changes will be re-synchronized when the down Agent server comes back up.

A problem can occur if directory changes were made to user IDs which are brought up during system IPL, before the CA VM:Secure server comes up. The Object Directory still has the contents as they existed before the Agent server member was taken down. To recover successfully, perform the following steps before you IPL the down member:

  1. Obtain a copy of the USER DIRECT file which contains the latest set of changes by executing the VMXBKP01 utility on one of the operational member systems.
  2. Attach the volume containing the Object Directory for the member that is down, and execute the DIRECTXA utility to rewrite the Object Directory on the down member.
  3. Bring up the member and start CA VM:Secure normally.
