Description

The DIAL command interface is an optional feature that allows you to do security evaluation of users entering your system through the CP DIAL command. The interface gives control to the CP component of CA VM:Secure for all DIAL command requests.

After you have installed the DIAL interface, all requests go through the CP component for rules evaluation. Information about DIAL requests is then sent to the CA VM:Secure user ID. This information is compared to DIAL rules in the rules database to see if an applicable DIAL rule exists.

The VMXTRAP record is required for sites that want to use the Rules Facility to check the DIAL command. If the DIAL is verified by the Rules Facility, the request is then routed to the CP command processor. If the Rules Facility rejects the DIAL request, no further processing occurs.

Do not use the VMXTRAP record if you choose to modify CP yourself instead of having CA VM:Secure make a dynamic change at system initialization. Do not use the VMXTRAP record if you have modified CP to change the handling routine for the CP DIAL routine.
