The LOGMSG command allows for the definition and removal of a DIALFAIL message. The message is written at a DIAL requester’s terminal if a DIAL request is rejected.
Although DIAL rules can be defined in the rules database before the necessary CP modifications are in place, these rules have no effect until the CP component is able to trap DIAL requests. This is done after a VMXTRAP DIAL record has been added to the VMXRPI CONFIG CP component configuration file.
Invalid DIAL attempts create journal entries. If the journal limit is reached for a specified terminal address, dialing to any virtual machine from that terminal address is disabled until the journal limit is reset.
Example
To restrict real terminal addresses 0020 through 0027 from dialing in to PVM, add the following rule to the PVM user rules file:
REJECT 0020‑0027 DIAL
Note: For more information about installing the DIAL command interface manually or automatically, see VMXTRAP Record.
