Recommended AUTOLOG1 Procedure

For security purposes, to ensure CA VM:Secure is running before other virtual machine are started, AUTOLOG1 should only autolog CA VM:Secure. Change your autolog procedures as follows:

• Change the name of the AUTOLOG1 machine to AUTOLOG2. Use the following CHANGE command:

  vmsecure change autolog1 autolog2
  

• Create a new AUTOLOG1 user ID that autologs only CA VM:Secure. If the CPACTION record for AUTOLOG1 specifies NOPASS, code a dummy password in an EXEC on AUTOLOG1 for the autolog of CA VM:Secure.
• Add the following record to the PRODUCT CONFIG file:

  AUTOUSER AUTOLOG2
  

Note: If CA VM:Secure is running, use the CONFIG PRODUCT command to add this record. The change takes effect immediately.

This AUTOUSER record ensures that CA VM:Secure is fully initialized before AUTOLOG2 begins autologging subsequent virtual machines. CA VM:Secure will autolog AUTOLOG2 anytime it is initialized, even if no CP IPL has just occurred. You might want to perform some checks in AUTOLOG2 to determine the time of the last CP IPL and decide how you want AUTOLOG2 to proceed.
