Creating Several Directory Entries at the Same Time

You might want to create many directory entries at the same time. To do so, you must first build a control file. In the control file, add the name of each directory entry and any other specifications needed to override default values. Then use the MULTIPLE command and that control file to create the directory entries listed in the control file.

To create several directory entries at the same time with this method

  1. Create a control file with the names of the directory entries to create.

  2. Enter the MULTIPLE command with the operand NEWUSER and the name and filetype of your control file. For example, if you created the control file USER filetype FILE, enter the following:
    vmdirect multiple newuser user file
