Add a Collector
Data collection begins when you add a collector through the management console. You can add collectors at any time. By adding collectors, you associate the management console with the servers on which you have installed the UC Monitor software.
Follow these steps:
- Click Administration, Data Collection, Collectors in the navigation bar.
The Collection Device List opens.
- Click New.
The Collection Device Properties page opens.
- Complete the following fields.
- Server Name. The DNS host name of the server hosting this collector. If you do not know the server name, enter the IP address in the Management Address field and click DNS.
- IP Domain. The IP domain that is associated with all traffic seen by this collector. The IP domain is created in CA Performance Center. This field is available only when UC Monitor is registered to a CA Performance Center instance where at least one IP domain is defined.
- Management Address. The IP address that is assigned to the management NIC, in dotted notation, such as 10.10.2.34. If you do not know the IP address, enter the DNS host name in the Server Name field and click IP.
- Monitor Address. (Cisco only) The IP address of the NIC that is attached to the SPAN port on the switch, in dotted notation, such as 1.1.0.0. If you do not know the IP address, click Check. The management console attempts to contact the collector at the Management Address you entered and tries to get status and version information.
- RTCP Monitor Port. (Avaya only) The port on which the collector listens for incoming RTCP data from Avaya endpoints An endpoint is any device where a media stream begins or ends, such as telephone, softphone, telepresence, voice gateway, media device, and video camera.. Corresponds to the port you configured on the Communication Manager. The default is 5005.
- CDR Monitor Port. (Avaya only) The port on which the collector listens for incoming TCP data (CDR) from the Avaya Communication Manager. Corresponds to the port you configured on the Communication Manager. The default is 9000.
- Click Save to save the collector. The new collector appears on the Collection Device List.
- Click Save & Add Another to save the collector and add another collector.
