Windows Client Scheduler Access Rights and Authorities

Windows Client user IDs must be granted with full control to the Central and Database folders and subfolders to be able to operate the Windows Client Scheduler correctly. This full control should be granted to the user ID regardless if these folders are located on a local machine or on a server.

Provide user IDs used by the Windows Client Scheduler the appropriate authority (on your network). The Windows Client Scheduler has the following processes:

The collector needs access rights to read, write, and update files in the Central and Database folders. The maintenance process needs the same, but it also needs access rights to delete files.

Note: For an example of the Windows Client Scheduler using both the collector and maintenance, see the chapter "Working with Trend Log Scripts" in the CA Vantage SRM User Guide.

For other scheduled tasks defined in the View and Output Definitions feature, the user ID must have relevant access permissions to be able to read, write, update, and delete files from destination directories. This includes files in the Central and Database folders and also in other destination directories if needed.

Note: For more information, see Giving the Scheduler Write Access for Publishing.
