In a Multi-Access Spool (MAS) configuration, files can enter the common queue from any system in the configuration. Unless special actions are taken, files are eligible for processing on any system in the configuration. Individual files are given affinity to a single system in the configuration. If the affinity of a file is to a specific system in the configuration, it can only be selected for processing by the system specified.
System affinity is useful if, for example, the node names of the output devices are not unique over the whole configuration.
If a failed system is unavailable, the operator can change affinity with the TF command to attempt restart on another system.
