Enable and Disable Global Rules

The Policy Server User Interface allows you to enable and disable global rules. If a global rule is enabled, and a user accesses the resource specified by the rule, the rule fires when the authentication or authorization event specified in the rule occurs. If a global rule is disabled, the rule does not fire when a user triggers the authentication or authorization event.

To enable or disable a global rule

  1. Log into the Policy Server User Interface.
  2. In the Object pane, click on the Global Policies tab.
  3. Click on the Global Rules icon.

  4. In the List pane, select the global rule you want to disable or enable.
  5. From the menu bar, select Edit, Properties of Rule.

The Global Rule Properties dialog opens.

  6. In the Allow/Deny and Enable/Disable group box, select the Enabled check box. Selecting this check box toggles the check mark. If the box contains a check mark, the rule is enabled. If it does not, the rule is disabled.
  7. Click Apply to save your changes, or click OK to save your changes and return to the SiteMinder Administration window.
