Start the Policy Server User Interface

In order to use the Policy Server User Interface, you must login as a valid administrator.

To start the Policy Server User Interface

  1. Open your browser.
  2. Enter http://hostname.domain/siteminder in the URL field and press Enter.

The hostname is the name of the machine on which the Policy Server is installed. The domain is the fully qualified domain name which must use two periods. For example, a host name of siteminder and a domain of .security.com requires the following to log into Policy Server User Interface:
    http://siteminder.security.com/siteminder

Note: You must use a fully qualified host name in the URL. If the Web server on the host machine is not running on the standard HTTP port (80), you must append a colon and a port number to the end of the domain. For example:
    http://siteminder.security.com:81/siteminder

Your browser displays the main Policy Server page.

  3. Click Administer Policy Server.

A status bar appears while the Policy Server User Interface loads. There may be a short delay. When the application has loaded, the SiteMinder Administration Login window opens.

  4. Enter a valid user name and password in the appropriate fields.

If you are accessing Policy Server User Interface for the first time, use the default super user administrator account, which you created during Policy Server installation.

  5. Click the Login button.

The system displays the SiteMinder Administration window. This is the main window of the Policy Server User Interface. The contents of this window differ based on the privileges of the administrator account you use to login to the user interface. The differences are based on whether your administrator account has privileges to manage all Policy Server objects or only a subset of policy domain objects.
