Configure User Directory Connections

User directory connections allow the Policy Server to communicate with user stores in your enterprise. When configuring a user directory connection, some of the steps are identical regardless of the type of directory. The remainder of the requirements for directory connections depend on the type of directory.

To configure a user directory connection

  1. Make sure that the Policy Server system can access the system that contains the directory or database.

    Ping the user store system from the Policy Server system to verify a network connection.

    Note: Some user stores may require the Policy Server to present credentials before allowing a connection.

  2. Create a user directory object in the Policy Server User Interface using the User Directory Dialog.
  3. In the User Directory Dialog, provide a Name and (optional) Description for the user directory object.
