Important! You will receive correspondence from CA regarding the end date for 4.x Web Agent support.
Note: When you create or modify a Policy Server object in the Policy Server User Interface, use ASCII characters. Object creation or modification with non-ASCII characters is not supported.
To configure an agent object
The Agent Properties dialog opens.
Agent names must be 7-bit ASCII characters, in the range 32-127.
Note: For Web Agents, the Agent identity name must correspond to the Agent name that you specified when you installed the Agent. If you change the Agent name in the Web Agent Management Console or the WebAgent.conf file (see the SiteMinder Web Agent Guide), you must also edit the Agent name here.
A further set of controls specific to 4.x agent types appears in the lower part of the dialog.
Note: For virtual servers, define virtual server names and IP addresses as you would define a single server. Each Agent on a virtual server must have a unique Agent Name.
Enter the shared secret assigned to the Agent when the Agent was installed on the Web server. The shared secret is used for mutual authentication when a 4.x Agent attempts to connect to a Policy Server. The secret must be between 1 and 255 characters in length and contain no embedded spaces.
Note: You must use the same shared secret for each virtual server on a single Web server.
When you create realms, you will associate each realm with a Web Agent identity.
You can only configure a SiteMinder 4.x Web Agent using a local Web Agent configuration file. For configuration parameter descriptions, see the SiteMinder Web Agent Guide.
There are a number of tasks that must be completed in order to fully configure a Web Agent. These tasks apply to local and central configuration of a Web Agent.
