Policy Store Object Migration

You can write Perl scripts that export and import policy store objects by using the Policy Server Data Management methods in PolicyMgtDataMgr. These methods give you finer control over import and export operations than the SiteMinder Smobjexport and Smobjimport utilities do. For example, with the Data Management methods, you can:

• Move particular objects rather than all objects
• Specify whether existing objects in the target data store should be preserved or overwritten
• Specify whether dependencies (objects that the current object is dependent upon) are included in an export or import operation
• Export encrypted information in clear text

Note: You cannot use the Data Management methods to migrate data store objects from an earlier version of SiteMinder. To migrate your data store to a new version of SiteMinder, use the smobjexport and smobjimport utilities.
