Periodic Maintenance Tasks
The following lists details the tasks you can perform for general SiteMinder maintenance. The CA Services implementation team typically covers the details for these tasks, which are based on the specific environment:
- Apply operating system patches.
Frequency: monthly or as required
- Apply SiteMinder cumulative patches.
Frequency: monthly or as required
- Use the SiteMinder OneView Monitor, CA Wily, or an equivalent tool to monitor SiteMinder performance.
Frequency: continuous
- Use the appropriate tools to monitor the performance of the backend repositories.
Frequency: continuous
- Back up the backend repositories using native or SiteMinder tools.
Frequency: dependent on the requirements of your organization
- Maintain the backend repositories using native tools. Examples of this maintenance include the following items:
- Indexing
- Backing up the transaction logs to reduce the consumption of disk space.
Frequency: dependent on the requirements of your organization
- Use the XPSSweeper utility to remove the tombstones of deleted object from the policy store.
Frequency: as required to help reduce the size of the policy store.
- Archive SiteMinder log files.
Frequency: dependent on the requirements of your organization
- Audit SiteMinder policies and adjust/optimize as required.
Frequency: dependent on the requirements of your organization
- Audit authentication and authorization failures. Escalate the events as required.
