Meet the Prerequisites

Meet these prerequisites before you install or upgrade CA Service Catalog. Unless otherwise noted, all prerequisites apply to both new installations and upgrades.

Follow these steps:

1. Verify that you have reviewed and followed the instructions in the Prepare to Install or Upgrade CA Service Catalog scenario. This scenario explains the preparation tasks for installing or upgrading CA Service Catalog and provides guidelines to determine your system architecture.

   Note: The Prepare to Install or Upgrade CA Service Catalog scenario is in the Implementation Guide and on http://ca.com/support.

2. Decide whether to perform a traditional or migration model upgrade.
3. Verify that the computers on which you plan to install CA Service Catalog meet the system requirements. For best performance, we recommend that you do not install CA Service Catalog on the same computer as your SQL Server server or Oracle server.

   Note: For a summary of system requirements, see the Release Notes. For detailed system requirements, see the Support Matrix. The Support Matrix also includes details about integrations and any updates that occur after GA.

4. Record the following data for the base files that you install on every CA Service Catalog computer. The installation program prompts you to provide this data.
   • Installation path name, if you do not want to use the default path name

     The default path name is C:\Program Files\CA\Service Catalog.

   • Startup and shutdown port numbers, if you do not want to use the default ports 8080 and 8085

     Important! We recommend that you do not use port 7777 as the startup or shutdown port. Port 7777 is reserved for Java Messaging Service (JMS).

     If you must use port 7777 for the startup or shutdown port, reset the JMS port number after you have finished running the setup utility. Otherwise, port conflicts occur, and the product does not function correctly.

     Note: No host name is needed because you install the product locally.

5. (CA Workflow users only) Perform one of the following tasks:
   • Meet the prerequisites to use or continue using CA Workflow as the process automation tool for CA Service Catalog.

     Important! CA Workflow is no longer being enhanced, and its maintenance and technical support are scheduled to be discontinued as of December 31, 2013. Therefore, we strongly recommend using CA Process Automation as your process automation tool.

   • Discontinue using CA Workflow as the process automation tool for CA Service Catalog. Enter the following command on all CA Workflow computers:

     pre_process_workflow.bat -uninstall
