Data Objects

A data object defines the data to use for a chart or table. Data sources for a data object include the following:

• An ODBC-connected or JDBC-connected database management system (DBMS). Examples include an SQL Server or Oracle database.
• A delimiter-separated value file
• Any other data source that a Java report plug-in can access

You can perform the following tasks for data objects:

• View the list of data objects
• Organize them in folders
• Become familiar with the runtime variables in data objects
• Add a query runtime variable for use in a data object
• Add a data object or edit one

  Note: When you add or edit a data object, you can test it. You can also set permissions to specify the level of access for each role to the data object.

• Use predefined data objects
• Delete a data object
