Configure Server Authentication and Logon Methods

This procedure applies only if you are using CA Workflow to open change orders during request fulfillment; otherwise, skip this procedure.

For details about when you may need to configure a CA Service Desk Manager server, see How to Plan and Perform the Integration.

To configure a server

  1. Select Administration, Configuration, Service Desk.

    The configuration options for the CA Service Desk Manager primary server appear.

  2. Click the Modify (Pencil) icon next to each property that you want to update, using the following information:
    Enable HTTPS

    Specifies a web protocol, as follows:

    Select No (the default) to use HTTP to communicate with this CA Service Desk Manager server.

    Select Yes to use HTTPS to communicate with this CA Service Desk Manager server.

    Enable PKI

    Specifies the type of authentication to be used when communicating with CA Service Desk Manager, as follows. For more information, see the CA Service Desk Manager documentation.

    Select Yes (the default) to use PKI-based access control. Choose this option if the Web Services Policy has a public key associated with it. If it is PKI based, before continuing, ensure that you have completed the instructions in How to Generate a Policy Key File.

    Select No to use user name-password-based authentication. Choose this option if the Web Services connection method uses user login-based access control.

    Important! Selecting No is for old CA Service Desk Manager legacy systems and is not recommended!

    Host Name

    Specifies the name of CA Service Desk Manager primary server.

    Port Number

    Specifies the port number used for CA Service Desk Manager on the host.

    Key File Name

    Specifies the key file name of the public key file.

    If you are using PKI-based access control, this parameter is required. Ensure that the key file is located in USM_HOME folder by completing the instructions in How to Generate a Policy Key File.

    Policy Code

    Specifies the CA Service Desk Manager policy code for the Web Services Access Policy used to define the types of interaction allowed between CA Service Catalog and CA Service Desk Manager

    If you are using PKI-based access control, this parameter is required.

    For more information, see the step for creating the policy code in How to Generate a Policy Key File, and also see the CA Service Desk Manager documentation.

    User ID

    Specifies the login user ID of the CA Service Desk Manager Server Web Service access.

    If Enable PKI is set to No and you are using user name-password authentication, this parameter is required. Otherwise, ignore this parameter.

    User Password

    Specifies login user password of the CA Service Desk Manager Server Web Service access.

    If Enable PKI is set to No and you are using user name-password authentication, this parameter is required. Otherwise, ignore this parameter.

  3. Verify that you are finished updating configuration properties.
  4. Click Test button to test the web service access or click Launch button to start the CA Service Desk Manager Server web URL with the updated properties.

    The connection is tested, using the new values you specified. If the connection fails, try using a different value.

  5. Recycle Catalog Component.
  6. Select Administration, Configuration, CA Workflow option.
  7. Click the Configure button.

    The CA Service Desk Manager server configuration details are updated with the new values that you specified.
