RSI Prerequisites

Before you can register an RSI server with CA Server Automation and can use RSI functionality, configure your RSI environment.

Follow these steps:

  1. Install the RSI server.

Note: For more information about installing RSI servers, see the RSI Server Installation Guide.

  2. Configure the RSI server.

Note: For more information about configuring RSI servers, see the RSI Server Administration Guide.

  3. Configure hypervisors.

Note: For more information about configuring hypervisors, see the RSI Server Administration Guide.

  4. (Optional) If you want to manage additional servers outside the RSI network environment, configure external networks.

Note: For more information about configuring external networks, see the RSI Server Administration Guide.

Note: You can make any external network available to the RSI environment.

    1. Open a port on the RSI server for RSI agent remote connections.

      Example: 4105

    2. If necessary, update your firewall rules to allow traffic on the new port, and update NAT rules to allow redirection to the RSI server.

      Example: https://RSIserver:443

    3. Install the RSI agent on the target server.
    4. Edit the dpad.ini file on the target server with the appropriate RSI URL.

      Example: https://RSIserver:4105

    5. Restart the RSI agent.

Note: CA Server Automation supports alternative RSI deployment methods. For more information, see How to Deploy RSI Using ITCM and How to Set Up RSI for AppLogic.
