Populate a Shared System Image with Resources

To populate a shared system image, move the relevant resource definitions in your local system images into it. You can move a definition from a local image to a shared image only if the shared image has affinity with the home system of the local image. You can use the M action code to move definitions of the following classes to a shared image:

To populate a shared system image with resources

  1. Enter /RADMIN.I.L.

The Local System Image List panel appears.

  2. Type R beside the images that contain the resource definitions you want to move, and press Enter.

    The Resources List panel appears.

  3. Type M beside the resource definitions you want to move, and press Enter.
    1. On the displayed list of shared system images, enter S beside the image to which you want to move the resource definition.
    2. On the displayed General Description panel for the resource definition being moved, enter ? in the Home System field and select the home system for the resource.

Although a resource in a shared system image may become active on different systems, this product will start it only on the nominated home system during automation.

For an auto-switchable tape drive definition, you also need to change its template.

    3. Press F3 (File) to move the definition to the nominated shared system image.

The list of shared system images is redisplayed. Repeat steps a through c until you finish with all the selected definitions.

When you finish with the resource definitions in one local system image, the list of definitions in the next selected local system image is displayed. Repeat Step 3 until you finish with all the selected local system images.
