Message Rules

Specify message rules for a containment resource on the Status Monitor Message Details panel only. Use the $MN- prefix, and do not specify values in the Status fields (that is, specify rules in the window for status monitor messages only).

Use the message rules to detect messages for the contained resources, and use the following process to set the actual state of a resource:

$NCL $NCL=$RM02CRP OPT=MESSAGE NAME=&ZMSGWORDn STATUS=actual_state

The NAME keyword specifies a word in the message that identifies the resource.

The region displays the status of the containment resource based on the status of the contained resources. For example, a status of DEGRAD-30% indicates that 30% of the contained resources have degraded with no resources at a worse state. The ranking of the actual states are, from best to worst: ACTIVE, STARTING, STOPPING, INACTIVE, DEGRADED, FAILED, and UNKNOWN.
