Define Automation Requirements

System images, services, and EventView rules help you define your automation requirements.

To define your automation requirements

Important! The name of a sysplex is reserved for sysplex system images. Do not use it for other types of system images.

  1. Create the local system image and the resource definitions.

The definitions store the operations requirements of the resources you want to manage.

  2. Load the local system image in the region.

The region uses the stored information to manage the defined resources.

  3. (Optional) Create an EventView rule set and associate it with the local system image.

The region uses the information stored in the rule set to manage the messages on the system.

  4. (Optional) Link and synchronize regions if you have set up regions on other systems that you want to manage, and then repeat steps 1 through 3 in the other regions.
  5. (Optional) Create the shared system images.
  6. (Optional) Create the sysplex system images.
  7. (Optional) Create services to provide a business view of the managed resources.

Note: The product provides AutoAssist features that help you create the system images.
