Install and Configure Workpoint Components on Windows/JBoss

The Workpoint Business Process Management (BPM) solution lets you implement ticket-based workflows in the portal. CA RCM uses two Workpoint components: the Workpoint server and the Workpoint Designer client.

When you run the CA RCM installer, you can choose to implement Workpoint server in one of two ways:

• Install a new instance of Workpoint server on theCA RCM server computer. In this case no additional configuration is necessary: the installer package installs Workpoint server and related utilities on the target Windows computer, and configures database connections.

  The installer also generates files that you use to install the local instance of Workpoint Designer so that it communicates with the new server instance.

• Specify an existing Workpoint host in the network. This can be a pre-existing Workpoint instance, but typically you create a dedicated CA RCM Workpoint instance on another computer before you install CA RCM.

  Note: If you specify a pre-existing, remote Workpoint server instance in the network, you must manually configure connectivity between CA RCM components and the existing Workpoint instance, and install the Ticket Management System Adapter utility on the remote Workpoint server. Consult with CA Technical Support.

  In addition, you must configure Workpoint Designer to address the remote server instance. Contact Technical Support for assistance with these configuration steps.
