Install Workpoint Server on a Designated Computer

In this procedure, you run the CA RCM installer on the Workpoint server computer to install Workpoint and configure it to work with CA RCM. The installer also installs the CA RCM server. However, this instance of the CA RCM server is not used. When you complete installing the Workpoint server, you run the installer again to install CA RCM server on its own computer.

Note: The installation worksheets list information you provide during installation. Use the worksheets during installation to avoid errors.

To install Workpoint server on a designated computer

  1. Verify that the database server which will host CA RCM databases is running.
  2. Run the InstCARCM.exe installation program you prepared earlier.

    The CA RCM installer opens.

  3. Select the language you want for the CA RCM Portal, which is a web-based interface for CA RCM.

    Note: The language you select affects only the Portal interface and not the installation or any other component. It does not affect this installation.

  4. Complete the installer using the information you recorded in the installation worksheets.

    When you install the Workpoint server on a separate computer, do not select to create the reporting database.

    Note: The option to create the reporting database is only available when you install against a Microsoft SQL database.

  5. Review your installation choices, then click Install.

    The installer runs the customized installation package.

  6. Click Done to close the installer.
  7. Remove CA RCM server files, as follows:
    1. Navigate to the following directory: 
      RCM_install\Server\eurekify-jboss\server\eurekify\deploy

      Note: RCM_install is the CA RCM installation directory.

    2. Delete the following:
      • eurekify.war folder and its entire content
      • eurekify-ds.xml
      • viewer.war
      • reportdb-ds.xml
  8. Click Start, All Programs, CA, Role & Compliance Manager, Server, Role & Compliance Manager JBOSS Server.

    The Workpoint server starts and takes a few minutes to load.
