Change JBoss Implementation During Upgrade

During upgrade, you can change the way you implement CA RCM in your Windows/JBoss environment. This section explains how to adapt standard installation procedures when you upgrade.

• Split Server Components—If you implemented both the CA RCM and Workpoint servers on a single computer, we recommend that you move one of these server applications to another computer. You can reuse the existing application server as either the CA RCM or Workpoint server.

  Follow the standard procedure to install CA RCM server and Workpoint server on different computers. When you run the installer on the existing computer, record database names and other settings shown during installation so you can enter them on the second computer.

• Clustered Servers—You can move server-side components to a clustered configuration. This configuration provides improved scalability and availability.

  Follow the standard procedure to install a JBoss cluster implementation. Perform a full upgrade on the existing computer, then use this computer as the reference installation: copy CA RCM files from this computer to build the cluster server image. The resulting sever image uses existing databases and other inherited settings.
